Match Report U12 Round 1

Captains Isaac and Tait lost the toss and were sent into bowl on a very wet pitch. As a team we bowled really well bowling Gilbert Valley out for 52. Tait and Jet opened the bowling and bowled very well. Tait bowled a very good line and length and was rewarded with an LBW. Jet bowled straight at the stumps and managed to bowl someone, he also was the wicketkeeper after drinks . Koa bowled 2 overs for 0 runs bowling in very good areas. Isaac bowled very tight and only went for 5 runs. Morgan and Orlando came on and both took 2 wickets with Orlando being on a hat trick ball and Morgan bowling very good line and length. Adam was next with the ball and bowled 4 overs for only 4 runs and took a good catch in the field. Hamish took 2 wickets in his first cricket match and bowled really well. Jackson bowled 2 very tidy overs after doing an excellent job wicket keeping before drinks.

A week later and another long drive to Saddleworth later it was our turn to bat. We managed to chase down the 52 runs but my goodness we made it hard for ourselves finishing with 7-53. A lot of the wickets were caused by trying to hit the ball too hard and the feedback from the players seemed to all be similar in which they all want to work on their defence. However Isaac batted well making 19 off 35 then retiring and coming back into bat finishing with 33 off 43 not out. A special mention to Orlando hitting a crucial 4 and not getting out to help win the game.

Overall a good start to the year with many things to improve upon. Speaking with Michael we are excited for what lies ahead this season for all players.
