🟥🟦 SENIOR COACH ANNOUNCEMENT – MATT KNIGHT
The Willaston Football Club is thrilled to announce the appointment of Matt Knight as our A Grade Senior Coach for the 2027 season!
Matt joins the Donnybrooks with an impressive coaching résumé and a proven record of success across both the Adelaide Footy League and SANFL.
Most recently, Matt has been at the helm of Athelstone Football Club, where he has enjoyed a highly successful tenure.
2024 – Guided Athelstone to a Division 2 Preliminary Final appearance.
2025 – Led Athelstone to the Division 2 Grand Final, securing promotion to Division 1.
2026 – Coached Athelstone to a sixth-place finish in Division 1 in their first season back at that level.
Prior to his time at Athelstone, Matt spent four years at Woodville-West Torrens Football Club, including three seasons as an assistant coach across the SANFL League and Reserves programs.
In 2023, he took the reins as Reserves Head Coach, guiding the side to a Preliminary Final appearance.
Matt now returns to the Barossa, Light & Gawler Football Association, bringing with him a wealth of experience, strong football knowledge and a proven ability to develop competitive football teams.
With a young family based in Gawler, the opportunity to coach closer to home and return to his home league makes this an exciting new chapter for Matt, his wife Stacey, daughter Hallie and the Willaston Football Club.
We are extremely excited about what Matt will bring to the Donnybrooks as we look ahead to the 2027 season.
Please join us in giving Matt, Stacey and Hallie a huge welcome to Willaston! ... See MoreSee Less
